Born and raised in Turkey, based in Germany Enis Turan is a performer, choreographer.
Before starting dancing he studied aviation and aerospace engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and hit the dance cosmos in 2012. Getting through the Dance Intensive Programme at Tanzfabrik Berlin he has studied contemporary dance at the University for Music and Dance Cologne and the Iceland Academy of the Arts.
His interest in dance lies both in conceptual and physical work, exploring the edges of his physical and performative skills. Apart from researching he is interested in pole dance and visual arts. Enis completed in 2015 the pole(L1)-teaching training given by Marlo Fisken/elevated and is since 2016 as well a certificated trainer in GYROKINESIS®.
In his work, Enis questions and deconstructs the conventions and he likes to work on social-relevant ideologies and themes. His works have been presented so far amongst others in HAU Berlin, Tanzhaus NRW, Tanzfabrik Berlin, Tanzfaktur Cologne, in Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. In 2014 Enis received a scholarship for talented female art students by Lancôme as the only “male” artist and the danceWEB scholarship for 2017.
Apart from his own choreographies he has so far worked with/danced for Sebastian Matthias, Josep Caballero Garcia, Hubert Wild, Jolika Sudermann, Erna Ómarsdóttir, Paul Blackman, Dewey Dell, Alfredo Zinola and Marie-Lena Kaiser.
