Bio

Born and raised in Istanbul, based in Brussels/Berlin Enis Turan is a performer, choreographer.

Before starting dancing he studied aviation and aerospace engineering at the Technical University of Berlin and hit the dance cosmos in 2012. Getting through the Dance Intensive Programme at Tanzfabrik Berlin he has studied contemporary dance at the University for Music and Dance Cologne and the Iceland Academy of the Arts.

In his works, Enis deals with norms and normalities in the art form as well as in interpersonal relationships and questions these critically. His works have been presented at HAU Berlin, tanzhaus nrw, Tanzfabrik Berlin, Tanzfaktur Köln, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK, among others. He was recognised as ‘particularly talented’ in 2014 during his dance studies with a scholarship from Lancôme and received the danceWEB scholarship as part of the Impuls Tanzfestival in Vienna in summer 2017.

His artistic interest in dance lies at the interface of conceptual works with a high level of physical / performative engagement and also at the interface of dance art with other art forms. Enis is keen to collaborate with artists from other fields.

In addition to his own choreographic works, he has so far collaborated with/danced for Sebastian Matthias, Josep Caballero Garcia, Doris Uhlich, Sophie Guisset, Reut Shemesh, Dewey Dell, Olivia Hyunsin KimTachoTinta, Alfredo Zinola and Marie-Lena Kaiser. From 2019 to 2024, he was employed as a performer at Schauspiel Leipzig for the musical ‘Lazarus’ under the artistic direction of Hubert Wild.

Apart from stage-work, he is giving workshops and is part of Kulturagenten, where he works with schoolclasses on dance projects.
